This is a MOOC-tier certificate, delivered through Coursera and recently repositioned around GenAI. The figure is a role proxy rather than a cert-specific number. Treat it as an on-ramp: the market increasingly wants proof you can ship something in production, and a certificate on its own doesn't provide that.
Mostly career changers and early-career analysts picking up Python, pandas, the basics of modeling and now prompt and RAG fundamentals. What the certificate really signals is initiative rather than readiness.
The rating is the advice here. Use it as a foundation, then stack a proctored, hands-on credential that employers actually weight — a cloud ML cert or Databricks. On its own, the premium is thin, and it's getting thinner.
The problem is certificate inflation. MOOC completions have exploded, and GenAI makes coursework easier to finish without actually learning much — so screeners are already marking the whole tier down.
